FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does Liberty Clock Repair set up and service grandfather clocks?

Yes. Liberty Clock Repair is available for local grandfather clock setup and servicing as well as talking customers through the process should they live outside of our service area or would like to do it themselves to save money. We can even do a Zoom video call with you!

How do I know when to get my clock serviced?

The short answer is, every 2-3 years. To avoid costly repairs down the road it is wise to get your clock regularly serviced every 2-3 years. But, your clock will definitely tell you when it is time for service. It will start having problems such as not striking or chiming, or it will run too fast or too slow. A clock that is running too fast, or gaining too much time everyday could be an indication of power loss due to dry, dirty oils and wear. If you have a mechanical (Key Wound) clock you should never gain or lose more than 1-minute per week.

I've over-wound my clock and now it won't run. What do I do?

A common misconception is that you can overwind a clock. This simply is not true. When a clock stops after being fully wound it is an indication the movement is in need of service or replacement.

How much will it cost to repair my clock?

This is a very important question and unfortunately, it can't be answered without a complete hands-on examination of your clock. There is no average repair cost as there is no average repair. The cost of the repair of your clock will depend largely on how much wear and damage is present in your clock.
